One of the chief missions of Radio CPR is to provide the space and an outlet for voices rarely heard at great length in the mainstream media or within traditional forums of civic engagement. Since our first broadcast in 1998, Radio CPR has opened up our studios to a diverse array of neighborhood residents for public affairs programs around local issues:

* Youth from the Marthas Table Teen program planned and ran their own radio show and learned production skills.
* A group of Asian American teens and a youth worker broadcast a weekly show featuring commentaries, Vietnamese music and interviews
* Bell Multicultural High School students recorded and broadcast commentaries about issues that directly impact them
* Outreach workers from the Whitman Walker Clinic broadcast HIV prevention public service announcements aimed at Latino teens through a Latin Rock show
* Social Workers from My Sisters Place discussed their work with domestic violence victims and how the community can come together to address this issue
* Youth from the Youth Action Research Group produced a weekly show featuring commentary and interviews with local housing activists including a tenants group from Trinity Towers, residents of La Casa shelter and organizers from WISH
* Youth from Sol y Souls Spoken Resistance shared spoken word performances and poetry DJ Carlitos Brown broadcast interviews with Bancroft Elementary School Students about peace and justice, art and basketball
* Youth workers from Calvary, LAYC, YARG and Asian American Lead have been interviewed on radio CPR about the joys and challenges of working with young people
* Tenant organizers from local associations shared challenges tactics for effective organizing in Section 8 housing
* Immigrant rights workers educated listeners about the impact of the 1996 legislation on the lives of the citys immigrant residents
